To the family and friends of Officer M. Redding. There are no words I or anyway could ever say to ease your tremendous loss. Not only to you but to the community he loved and served. As a Sgt. I know only to well how it is to be able to help your community with one's strong commitment. Matt had/showed that with his passion for his assignment as a law enforcement officer. My final thoughts are these; "tough times don't last, tough people do. Please stay tough and hang in there. My deepest thoughts are with you all.

Sgt. Jim Rose, Ret.
Sacto. Sheriff's Dept.

Today is December 15th........but you have been in my thoughts and my prayers since the day Barbara Jean and I watched you say good-bye to your son. I, like the rest of the city will always have a place in my heart for you and your sons. My daughter knew him as Officer Redding and it took me awhile to make the connection....................but once I did, I had a huge smile on my face. (She narrowly escaped a citation)...........I don't know the right words to say and I can't imagine what you must be going through but he's one of those people that truly make you feel like a better person just by knowing them............you must hear that everyday and you must be so proud. I am putting my tree up Friday or Saturday and will be hanging an ornament in his honor on my tree. I love you guys, I miss you guys and I am always thinking of you..........................Donita Dunbar 530 389 2504

To the Matt Redding Family - My family and I extend our deepest sympathy.  There are just no words to express are deepest sadness.  Matt crossed our lives more then a few times.  He went to school and graduated with my second daughter who still cries when his name his mentioned.  I crossed paths with Matt at Bel Air and on a police call which I had made.  The last words Matt said to me before leaving my home was to call him immediately if I had any more problems.  He was a very caring person with a smile always on his face.  While at Bel Air I used to tease him about his biceps - when was he going to stop growing them which always would bring a smile to his face.  I surely am going to miss this fine young man.

I feel tremendous sorrow in the loss of this wonderful young man. What joy he brought to his family and others.  I will pray that the pain the Redding and Navarette family and Rocklin Police Dept. and so many others feel is somehow softened by how many people love him.  God gave us a gift and he reclaimed it, sadly for us all, but God rejoices with Matt now in his new home.  God bless Matt and all of us.   Betty R.
