Twenty years ago, more than 95% of the professional helicopter pilots were obtained from military sources. Today, nearly 85% of new helicopter pilots are trained in the civilian environment.

Ten years ago, over 5,000 hours of flight time was required, before a pilot was offered a position as a commercial helicopter operator.  Today, that figure has been significantly reduced as major helicopter operators are actively seeking applicants with as little as 1,000-1,500 hours of flight experience.

During the next ten years, current job openings are expected to increase, because more pilots are seeking retirement. Entry-level requirements will continue to be reduced, and pilots will advance at rates never seen before. Salaries and benefits, which are already high at the upper end, will also increase.

Our Hughes 300 helicopter is an excellent aircraft for flight training. The military utilized this particular aircraft to train their pilots for many years. It is a very durable and forgiving aircraft. Its design makes for a great learning environment with safety a key concern. It has exceptional safety margins, large power reserves and responsive handling characteristics.

Its spacious cockpit and precise, vibration-free control forces along with excellent auto rotation characteristics make this a great training aircraft. You will get personalized flight instruction from an FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). You will learn at your own pace and can earn your Private Pilot (helicopter) in as little as 40 hours.* The average flight time for a student pilot to earn a private certificate is approximately 60 hours.

*FAA minimum requirements.
