Opening Speech by Charles A. Martin, President CCHS
February 23, 2002
On behalf of the board of directors of the Colusi County Historical Society, I would like to welcome you to our Annual Meeting. The Methodist Church here in Colusa has once again proven to be an excellent host, and I would like to personally thank the Methodist Ladies Group for the wonderful meal they have prepared for us.
I hope you are enjoying our quiz. I must confess that I found it challenging and needed to look back at the last two copies of Wagon Wheels in order to finish. It was created by Dr. Dick Johnson and our most recent addition to the CCHS Board of Directors. Dr. Gene Russell of Orland, Ca. Russell is also our featured speaker for today. He will enlighten us regarding a wonderful program entitled "History Camp" for kids. I would like to extend the society's thanks to him for bringing us this program.
I hope you have visited our website at Colusi Dot Org. Our webmaster, Mr. Clark Cook is here with us today and I'm sure he'd be willing to discuss any and all technological questions you might have.
At this time we will begin our program by standing and giving our Pledge of Allegiance.
Thanks again to our hosts, the congregation of the Colusa Methodist Church. The ladies will begin serving now and when lunch is finished, we will hear from Dr. Russell.
